I want to show you some brand new functionality that Microsoft is adding to Dynamics 365 Business Central in the 2023 release wave one. What they’ve added is artificial intelligence (AI) to generate a product description or marketing description for items. So this is kind of neat,  it allows you to add an item from a picture you can assign to that attribute from Business Central and then you can generate a marketing description that can be used on your website or on your eCommerce platform. So let’s see how easy it is to use.  I’m going to add a new item from a picture. I’m going to generate the marketing description I’m going to show you how you can edit that and then I’ll show you how you can enable this feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central.

This is my item list right here and I’ve got a category of faucets let’s open that up I want to add a new faucet and I’m going to do it based on a picture so what I do is go up to New and then create from a picture I’m going to browse out to find the picture. This is the one I want right here I’ll hit OK and when I do that it brings up this screen I’m going to identify a category to which this item belongs and also identify attributes of this specific item. This is in the faucets category I’m going to select that and then I’m going to add some attributes that further Define this particular item. Tese are the attributes I’m going to use right here I’m going to identify one at a time and finish this up so these are the attributes I’ve identified for this item in the corresponding values of each attribute so I’m done with this part of it I’m going to hit OK add the item to my item list I’m going to do two things.

Before I go and look at the artificial intelligence piece. First of all I’m going to change the item number with a manufacturer’s item number Business Central allows me to change key Fields within the database so I’m going to do that and then I’m going to change the description as well. So I’ve updated the item number and the description.

Now let’s take a look at the artificial intelligence piece it’s over here on the right. What I’m going to generate is the marketing text or the marketing

description of this item I’m not going to generate the description that’s over here I’m going to generate something that would be used on a website or an e-commerce platform. So let’s go ahead and do that I’m going to create with copilot here this is the name of the feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central. So it’s generated the description let’s take a look at it I’ll go into edit we can see the whole description here and there’s different formats I can use I could just use the tagline which is the first line in the marketing text or I can use paragraph which is a further description of this item and if you read the description here you can see that it took the information from Business Central including the attributes and create a text that would be suitable for marketing. You can see at the bottom below the text here. There’s a number of different formatting options I can use if I want to do that right within Business Central. so one thing that’s nice about this if you don’t like the results that the artificial intelligence generated you can just clear it and run it again and it will give you another version of

that.

So let’s go ahead and do that I’m going to run it again it gives me a new version if I don’t like this version I can either run it again or I can go back to a previous version this one’s pretty lofty and I have an option to change that as well if I go to more settings here I’ve got these options for additional settings on how the AI will be used to generate that text I also have a tone of voice here so I can do a lot right within Dynamics 365 Business Central to generate this marketing text that I can use in a number of different places. Once I’m done with this I’ll just hit OK and I’m done.This stays with the item I can always go back and use it or I can regenerate it and again it’s based on the description of the item it’s based on these attributes down here. If I save  attributes it wouldn’t necessarily change the output of the generated text. So there’s two things I need to do in order to try this out and use it in my system.

The first thing is to go to feature management and enable this item right here again this is a preview functionality but you can easily access it and try it out. So the first thing you want to do is enable this in feature management and then go to Copilot and enable it. I’ve already enabled it in my system but you’ll want to enable it in yours. It’ll change the screen so you have a new button to add by picture and also have the marketing text in the fact box.

That’s the new feature. It’s a preview release in the 2023 release wave one. If you have a lot of items and you need to generate marketing descriptions for those items, this is a good thing to try out.
