Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central | ERP Demo For Accountants

Dynamics 365 for Financials enables accountants to take control of their data and the application with ease.

For small and mid-sized businesses that have outgrown existing accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Financials is the comprehensive business management solution that easily and seamlessly connects people and processes.

In this scenario, I will show you how to gain quick access to financial reports, add a new account to the general ledger, create a journal entry for the new account, and then finally, analyze the account.

From the homepage, we’ll select key performance indicators.

Select the chart. This shows the list of predefined KPIs available on the home screen. I’ll click cancel. I can now highlight any point on the chart or graph to drill into the details. This opens the details behind the cash cycle KPI. Here we can see all the details of the cash cycle by period. We can drill into row 200.

If we highlight row 10 and drill down into account 40200, our income for product sales, we can now view all of the GL entries for that account. Use the X to close back. We can also choose to open and work with this information in Excel. Every page in Dynamics 365 for Financials is available export to Microsoft Excel.

If we scroll down to the bottom of the home page, we can see an area for our favorite reports. We’ll click on the income statement and with the previewer, we can now see the details of our current income statement. We can select the detailed trial balance report and see the details account by account, transaction by transaction, and the running balances.

MD Dynamics 365 for Financials will streamline an access to key information for your account. Removing administrative tasks to generate reports frees up the individual to focus on more strategic tasks, such as analyzing the data and making informed decisions.

We’ll select home, and from the drop-down select finance. We’ll click on the search icon in the top right corner and enter in the word “travel”. There’s nothing to show currently; we do not have a travel account set up. We can enter the new GL account number, enter a name for the account, select both the account category and account subcategories, allow for direct posting, and click save and close.

Next, we’ll select the home icon. Dynamics 365 for Financials enables accountants to take control of their data and the application with ease, adding accounts and viewing their activity to adjust the company as needed.

We’ll select home, and from the drop-down select finance. We’ll select the default journal batch, enter account number 61550 and/or the description for a new account, travel expense. If we scroll to the right, we can enter the amount and the balance offset account number. Optionally, we can select dimensions; this is a very important feature, which can expose the breadth of your financials to an accountant. Dimensions allow you to assign the expense to a department, a product, a region, or territory. We’ll choose the drop-down and select the department. Next, for a value for that department, we’ll select sales, and click close.

Notice that on the fact box on the right, the travel expense has now been assigned to the sales department. We can now post this journal entry.

Select from your favorite accounts, and then select navigate in the action bar. Select the ledger entries icon. Now we can see all of the transactions that go into that particular GL account. We can then click close.

Having quick access to your financials and being able to easily add a new account reduces the amount of time or clicks spent working inside the system, improves control of the data and the business, and limits errors and ensures correct data entry.

For small and mid-sized businesses that have outgrown existing accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Financials is the comprehensive business management solution that easily and seamlessly connects people and processes.
