Building a modern cloud business
DocuWare was founded as DOCUNET in Germering, Germany in 1988, and renamed to DocuWare in 2000. Today, we have headquarters in Germering and New Windsor, New York with offices in Spain, France and U.K.

Growth history
The company won its 10,000th customer in 2011. In September 2017, we added our 1000th cloud customer, a key milestone in the double-digital growth of our cloud solution.
In April 2012, Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital LP provided investment capital to promote and accelerate the global growth of DocuWare. We changed our legal form from DocuWare AG (public holding company) to DocuWare GmbH (limited liability corporation).
We acquired U.S.-based Westbrook Technologies Inc. (developer of Fortis ECM software) in August 2013. In 2014, Westbrook Technologies Inc. merged into DocuWare Corporation, our U.S. subsidiary.
Today, DocuWare is available in 16 languages, boasts 12,000 customers across 90 countries, and is supported by a global network of over 600 partners.
