What to Expect in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017

In anticipation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017‘s upcoming release, Microsoft recently published a “What’s New in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Limited Beta” document on PartnerSource, along with a link to a limited beta version.

So, what can we expect in the forthcoming release? The latest version of Microsoft Navision, Dynamics NAV 2017 will feature a number of promising innovations, initiatives and improvements. Functionality will be increased with some new features such as additional Outlook capabilities, extra item properties and more tailored automation in workflow. Further, NAV 2017 will involve a back end development overhaul to facilitate the new extensions development function, and to allow for faster implementation and configuration. In Microsoft’s words, these extensions will “enable you to modify your Microsoft Dynamics NAV system without directly altering the source resources, making it easier to deploy, manage and upgrade customizations or extensions.”

However, Microsoft has grouped the most important changes into three categories: 1) Bringing two worlds together 2) Enhancing the core application and platform and 3) Creating new opportunities. Further details regarding the specific improvements described within each categories are described below:
