Dynamics 365 Business Central Smartphone App

Hello, welcome to TMC’s role-based demo series for Dynamics 365 Business Central, where we explore the features of Business Central for specific roles within your organization. If you can’t find a demo for your role or work position, let us know in the comments below, and we’ll try to make that happen.

Today, we’re going to be going over Dynamics 365 BC for the Smartphone. In this video, we’ll find out how BC system can be used when you’re out and mobile away from your laptop or tablet.

My name is John Hoyt, I’m the solution specialist for Technology Management Concepts. Let’s get started!

The smartphone app has nearly all of the functions of the web client. The homepage with its activities and tiles, business assistance, our graphical tools: KPI’s, your favorite accounts and balances, Power BI reports and QuickLinks to navigate within Dynamics 365 BC.

Let’s take a look, I’ll grab my phone but first, I want to take a look at the Business Central home page just as a quick refresher for you. Here again we have our activities, we have the business assistants, my favorite accounts, my Power BI reports and all the navigation and links that are available to your user inside the Business Central system.

Now with my phone, I have all that exact same functionality. When I first opened the smartphone app, because I’m connected via my user ID, my security role and profile is already known and my access rights within the system have already the granted to me. I’m taking into my home page where I have my five tiles: I can see balances; I can see the number of records within lists. If I scroll down through, you can see self-service time sheets becomes available.

Next up, is the business assistance tool, and again this is the graphical capabilities inside the system where I can move from one chart to another. I can specify what period of time I want the chart to represent. My favorite balances, my favorite accounts, and just like with the home page in the web client, these are drilled down so I can specify it I want to see what makes up the details within that to show me more information. Same thing with my trial balance, it’s quick operating income statement for me and then again access to those Power BI reports. Anything I can access in the web client or on my tablet. Whatever permission sets that I have the Power BI they automatically carry through for me just to have them here inside my Business Central smartphone.

And then finally from the ellipsis over on the right and the ability to work directly with the system now create new sales documents, create a new purchase documents customers or vendors, I can be in the field and conduct virtually any transaction or any activity that Business Central give me access to them from the web client. I’m going to be able to do that instead by using my smartphone.

So to summarize, with the BC smartphone app your company’s info is always at your fingertips there are no delays there are no data refreshes or syncing modes just real-time access.

That wraps up this video! If you have any questions or would like to make a suggestion of what we should cover the next video please have your comments down below.
