Microsoft Dynamics GP pricing is determined based on fixed and variable costs. The software itself is a fixed cost, and it’s the same no matter where you buy it. Variable costs arise from maintenance, implementation, deployment, and user fees.

Dynamics GP Licensing

There are three types of software licenses for Dynamics GP: Starter Pack, Extended Pack, and Customization Pack. The Starter Pack offers financials and distribution functionality and includes licenses for three concurrent users. This is adequate for most businesses, but more users with either full or limited read/write access can be supported for an additional fee per user.

The Extended and Customization Packs offer more advanced functionality, such as project management, supply chain management, customer relationship management, business intelligence, and reporting. Purchasing the Starter Pack is a prerequisite of purchasing the Extended Pack. Other software licenses (SQL Server, SharePoint, Office 365, etc.) that may be required must be purchased separately.

Dynamics GP Maintenance

Microsoft requires all new Dynamics GP customers to enroll in the Business Ready Advantage Plan, which gives you access to new versions of the software, online training, and much more. The cost of this plan is 18% of the software list price before any discounts, but the fee is mandatory for only the first year. After that, you may discontinue the plan, but most customers choose to renew it because it’s a more cost-effective way to upgrade to future versions of the software.

Dynamics GP Implementation

Microsoft Dynamics GP pricing schemes for software license(s) and maintenance fees are the same, regardless of vendor. Implementation, however, is often done by a Microsoft Certified Partner and typically includes installation, configuration, data conversion, training, and integration with other solutions. Prices vary considerably among different providers.

Dynamics GP Deployment

Dynamics GP may be deployed on-premise or in the cloud. The latter option allows you to save money on hardware, as well as technical support from your IT staff, whose time may be put to better use. Cloud deployment incurs a one-time set-up fee, as well as a monthly per-user fee. It’s the most convenient option in that users can access the application from either a desktop computer or a mobile device in any location where an Internet connection is available, the Dynamics GP cloud.
