During this pandemic, every employee across the whole globe is on lock-down; even from their own office, since it’s not safe to return to work. Employees felt cooped up in their own home with nothing to do since everything else was closed. Therefore, TMC decided to spice things up and had its employees to participate in a friendly competition of who ever can take the most steps in the month of April. We broke up in teams, and we would log our steps each day on Microsoft Teams. This walking program was to encourage us to get out the house, and do something productive aside from sitting on our desks during lockdown.

April 2020 Step Challenge ended with 24 of TMC’s employees to walk a total of 2,885 miles, which is the same amount of  distance from Los Angeles to New York! The challenge carried on to May 2020 and that is why this article is being written. The owner of TMC made it more interesting for the month of May by placing a bigger wager. The top 3 employees with the most steps (in each category) chooses a charity that TMC will be donating to.

Message from the President/Owner of Technology Manager Concepts:

While the TMC team was “Sheltering in Place” in most states, we initiated ways to stay connected and active. One of our initiatives was a monthly step challenge to get everyone walking. We were happy and pleasantly surprised that over 90% of the organization participated. As the challenge continued for three months instead of 3 weeks, rather than have personal rewards, our team members decided to walk for charity, with TMC donating to the three winner’s favorite causes.

The three categories were:

  • 10,000+ steps per day
  • 5,000 – 9,999 steps per day
  • >5,000 steps per day

The reason behind the three different categories is to give everyone a chance to win since there are different “tiers.” The charities that TMC donated were:
