When it comes to choosing a new accounting system, there are really only two proven choices: NetSuite and Intacct. Both solutions offer plenty of features, and both end up landing at about the same cost when all is said and done. The hard part, of course, is figuring out which one will be the best fit for your business.

After all, even the most powerful, multi-faceted software solution won’t do you much good if you are not able to correctly integrate it into your existing workflow. With that in mind, here’s a brief comparison of the two:

  • Integration
One of the biggest and most obvious differences between Intacct and NetSuite is that NetSuite is an integrated solution. In other words, NetSuite can handle your CRM, ERP and eCommerce as one simple solution, while Intacct needs additional software and plug-ins to accomplish the same tasks. In this arena, NetSuite has a clear advantage as it keeps all of your data in one place, one format, and one easy to access database.
  • Ease of Use
User testing has shown a clear advantage for NetSuite Software in terms of user friendliness, the functions are easy to access and the software has a short learning curve. Intacct certainly isn’t very complex but requires more initial time investment before employees can begin using it effectively and efficiently.
  • History
NetSuite has an install base of over 10,000 companies and has been around since 1998. There’s a deep network of service providers that can help you get the software up and running, and NetSuite’s long history of success demonstrates clear efforts to keep the software up to date and running smoothly. Intacct is newer and has a less proven track record, but with an install base of around 5,000 is still fairly strong.

The decision you make on which ERP software to choose should be based on qualities such as proven effectiveness as well as the software capabilities. NetSuite ERP offers some clear advantages in the form of a more mature platform, deeper integration and a lighter learning curve.
