Microsoft Work IQ Is Here. Now Your AI Can Actually Understand Your Business.

TL;DR: Microsoft just expanded Work IQ to include business applications, giving Copilot and agents a better way to understand the business data and processes behind your work, not just the emails, meetings, and documents around it. That matters because useful AI needs context. Knowing that a customer has a renewal coming up is helpful. Knowing they have a renewal coming up and an unresolved service issue, recent emails showing frustration, and a commitment that still needs to be fulfilled? Now we have something we can act on. And this isn’t theoretical for us. Microsoft is already showcasing how PowerApps911, a TMC Global company, is using Work IQ to connect customer signals and prioritize account engagement. So let’s skip the AI buzzwords and talk about what Work IQ could actually mean for your business.

In this article:

AI Is Pretty Smart. But It Doesn’t Know What It Doesn’t Know.

You’ve probably seen some version of this already. You ask Copilot a question, and it gives you a technically correct answer. The problem is that it doesn’t have the whole story.

Maybe the answer is sitting partly in Dynamics 365, partly in a Power App, partly in an email thread, and partly in the head of the person who has managed that customer for seven years.

That’s not a particularly unusual business problem. That’s just… business.

Companies have spent years building systems to manage sales, service, finance, operations, and everything in between. Then we added Microsoft 365, custom apps, automations, and now AI.

The data is there. The hard part is getting all of those pieces to understand each other, and that’s where Work IQ gets interesting.

Work IQ Gives Copilot and Agents More of the Business Story

Microsoft describes Work IQ as an intelligence layer for Copilot and agents.

The important part isn’t the terminology. It’s what that can allow you to do.

Work IQ can bring business context from Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform together with the workplace context already available through Microsoft 365.

Instead of an agent simply finding a record, it can better understand what that record means in the context of your business.

Microsoft gives a great example with a customer renewal.

On paper, the opportunity looks healthy. But there is an unresolved service issue, and recent customer communications show that resolving it is important to the renewal. Suddenly, the sales team has a very different picture of that account.

That’s the difference between retrieving information and understanding what needs your attention, and that’s a much more interesting use of AI.

We Aren’t Just Talking About It. PowerApps911 Is Already Using It.

Here’s the part we’re particularly excited about.

Microsoft is showcasing PowerApps911, a TMC Global company, as an example of Work IQ in action, demonstrating how we can connect customer signals to help prioritize account engagement.

That’s important because our approach to AI has never been about adding AI everywhere we possibly can.

We build technology to solve business problems. Sometimes that’s an agent, sometimes it’s a Power App, and sometimes it’s a flow quietly doing its job in the background. Increasingly, the best answer is a combination of those things.

Work IQ gives us another way to connect the information those solutions depend on so the technology can work with more of the context your people already use to make decisions.

This Is Where the Power Platform Gets Really Interesting

If your business processes were perfectly contained inside one system, this would all be much easier.

They’re probably not.

Someone fills out a form. Someone else updates Dynamics 365. An approval happens through email. Finance needs something from the ERP. A spreadsheet appears somewhere along the way because, of course it does.

This is exactly why we’ve spent years building with the Power Platform.

Power Apps can give people a better way to interact with a process, while Power Automate can move information and handle repetitive work. Dataverse can provide structure for business data, and Copilot Studio can bring agents into the equation when an agent is actually the right answer.

And now Work IQ can provide reusable business context that Copilot and agents can use across those experiences.

We’re getting closer to technology understanding the process instead of making your employees memorize where every piece of the process lives.

That’s a big deal.

Do You Actually Need Another Agent? Maybe. Maybe Not.

This is where we’ll probably sound a little different from companies trying to sell you an AI transformation.

You do not need an agent for everything.

We love agents. We build them. We use them.

But sometimes the best solution to your problem is still a Power App with a good form. Sometimes it’s a Power Automate flow. Sometimes it’s fixing the process before you automate anything. And sometimes an agent that understands your business context really can eliminate a ridiculous amount of manual work.

The technology should follow the problem, not the other way around.

That’s why the first question shouldn’t be, “How do we use Work IQ?” It should be, “What are our people wasting time doing today?”

Now we’re getting somewhere.

PowerApps911 + TMC Global Means We Can Follow the Problem Further

This is one of the reasons we’re so excited about PowerApps911 becoming part of TMC Global.

Historically, a customer might come to PowerApps911 with a Power Apps or Power Automate problem, and we could solve it. But business problems don’t always stay politely inside the Power Platform. The process might start in Business Central, customer information might live in Dynamics 365 Sales, Azure might be part of the architecture, or the organization might need help with Microsoft 365, security, or licensing before the cool AI project should even begin.

Now we can follow the problem wherever it goes.

PowerApps911 brings the deep Power Platform expertise, real-world building experience, and the approach our customers already know.

TMC Global expands the bench around it with expertise across Dynamics 365, ERP, CRM, Azure, and the broader Microsoft ecosystem.

Same philosophy: solve the actual business problem.

We just have more tools available to solve it.

Want to Know Where to Start? Find the Annoying Stuff.

You don’t need to walk into a meeting tomorrow and announce that your company needs a Work IQ strategy.

Start smaller.

What process makes everyone groan?

Where are employees copying information between systems?

What takes six clicks and three applications when it should take one?

What important information lives with one employee because “Susan just knows how it works”?

Where are people manually checking five different places before they can make a decision?

Those are the conversations we want to have, because once we understand the problem, we can figure out whether the answer is an app, an automation, an agent, Dynamics 365, Work IQ, or some combination of them.

You don’t need to know which Microsoft product solves it before you call us.

That’s our job.

Bring Us the Problem. We’ll Help You Figure Out the Technology.

If you’ve got a process that’s too manual, systems that don’t talk to each other, an AI idea you’re not sure is actually a good idea, or just something your team is tired of doing the hard way, talk to us.

PowerApps911 and TMC Global can help you figure out what makes sense, what doesn’t, and what to build next.
