Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) – Responsibility for the stocking and re-stocking of inventory within a location is placed on the vendor of the item. The vendor is given access to the stocking location, as well as to sales data for those items, which allows the vendor to determine the timing of restocking, as well as the quantity to keep on-hand. With VMI, the vendor can efficiently manage their items within their customers locations.
